TikTok & YouTube Link in Bio: Track Every Click
A TikTok or YouTube video can mention a shop, a booking page, a WhatsApp number, and a newsletter in the same caption. The profile underneath still has one website field. Everything you want a viewer to do has to fit behind that single tap.
That is the whole job of a TikTok link in bio or a YouTube link in bio: one public URL that opens a page, not a dead end. The page lists the offers. Analytics tells you which block was used, and from where.
This guide covers what to put in each profile, how to keep TikTok traffic separate from YouTube traffic, and when a short link is the better tool.
Why one field is not one destination
TikTok and YouTube are traffic sources. They are rarely the place the sale happens.
| TikTok profile | YouTube channel | |
|---|---|---|
| Website field | One URL | One URL (channel About / Links) |
| Where the tap happens | Bio, and sometimes a video link sticker | Channel page, end screens, description |
| What viewers expect | The thing from the video they just watched | The thing named in the video, plus the channel’s always-on links |
| What you lose without a page | Every other offer | Per-button click data |
A homepage URL wastes the tap. The viewer already decided to leave the app. Send them to a bio profile that answers “what do I tap?” in one screen.
If the profile is Instagram rather than TikTok or YouTube, the same layout rules are in how to add multiple links to an Instagram bio.
What belongs on a TikTok bio page
TikTok traffic is fast and specific. People open the bio because the video promised something. The page should deliver that promise first.
1. Match the video that is live today. Pin the product, the sound, or the lead magnet from the current post at the top. A static list of “all my links” loses people who came for one thing.
2. One conversation button. WhatsApp click-to-chat beats a phone number nobody will type. Build it with the WhatsApp Link Generator: country code, no +, and a pre-filled line such as “Hi, I came from your TikTok.” Paste that URL as a button.
3. Proof under the offer. Shop reviews, YouTube, a portfolio. Viewers who are not ready to buy still need a reason to trust the first button.
4. Five to seven blocks. Extra socials can be icons. A wall of equal buttons is a second homepage. The layout rule is the same as the bio conversion guide.
5. A line in the TikTok bio text. “Shop + WhatsApp under this link” beats “link in bio” with no promise.
You do not have to write the first draft yourself. AI bio generation drafts a niche-specific bio and suggests social links in English, Turkish, Russian, or Arabic. Keep the voice; do not publish the draft untouched.
What belongs on a YouTube link in bio
YouTube viewers stay longer, and the channel page is a second homepage. The website field still only holds one URL, so the bio page has to do two jobs: the video they just watched, and the links that should always be there.
Typical order:
- Latest video’s offer — the product, the PDF, or the booking named in the description
- Subscribe-adjacent proof — a playlist, a newsletter, or the community
- Conversation — WhatsApp, email, or a calendar
- Always-on — shop, other socials
Descriptions can still hold raw URLs. Use those for the one link that should skip the page (a specific product). Use the channel website field for the page that holds everything else. Mixing the two is how click data gets split across five different hosts.
QR codes export as PNG or SVG from every Linked.is link and from the profile. A YouTube thumbnail, a community post, or printed packaging can point at the same tracked page.
Keep TikTok clicks separate from YouTube clicks
A shared bio page is fine. A shared report is not.
On Linked.is, profile settings can append UTM parameters to outbound buttons: source, medium, and campaign. Set them once on the profile so every shop or booking tap carries the same tags into the destination. Analytics on the profile itself still show clicks per block, country, device, browser, and referrer — so a TikTok open is not mixed with a YouTube open or a QR scan.
Practical split:
- One profile, two sources. Referrer and per-block clicks tell you which app sent the visit. Tag the destination with
utm_source=tiktokorutm_source=youtube,utm_medium=bio, and a campaign such asoct_launch. - Two profiles when the offers differ. A TikTok page that only sells the current drop, and a YouTube page that holds tutorials plus the shop. Each gets its own public URL. Pro includes up to five bio profiles; Team is unlimited.
Short links are the other tool. Use one when a TikTok caption or a YouTube end screen should skip the page and land on a single product. Create the short link in the dashboard and set its UTM source, medium, and campaign there. The parameters are stored with the link; the click is still counted on Linked.is (country, device, referrer, and any UTM present on the short URL).
Free analytics keep seven days. Pro keeps 90. Team keeps full history. If you report a monthly YouTube cycle, seven days is the reason to upgrade — not a longer feature list. Current amounts are on pricing.
Short link or bio page?
| Job | Short link | Bio page |
|---|---|---|
| One product from one video | Yes | Extra tap |
| Shop, chat, and proof from the profile | No | Yes |
| Caption, Story, or end screen | Yes | Only if the viewer must choose |
| QR on packaging | Either | Better if the scan should show a menu |
Linked.is does both. Short links and the bio page live on the same account. Paste one URL into TikTok and YouTube; use short links everywhere a single hop is clearer.
How to publish it today
- Create a free account and open the dashboard.
- Create a bio profile. The public URL looks like
linked.is/yourname. - Add 5–7 blocks in intent order: today’s offer, WhatsApp or booking, proof, always-on.
- In profile settings, set UTM source, medium, and campaign so outbound buttons stay tagged.
- Preview on a phone. Most of these taps happen one-handed, often with sound still playing.
- Paste that single URL into the TikTok website field and the YouTube channel links.
- Optional, on Pro or Team: connect a custom domain so the field shows
go.yourbrand.com. One domain is included. Extra domains are $1/month. Setup is in custom domains.
If a second person edits the page, use a team workspace instead of sharing the login.
Common mistakes
The same homepage in both apps. TikTok and YouTube viewers did not ask for your full site. They asked for the thing in the video.
One UTM campaign for every button. Then the shop and the support chat look like the same outcome. Tag the destination by source, and read per-block clicks for the rest.
Updating TikTok and forgetting YouTube. Old channel links keep splitting the data until both fields point at the new page.
A short link labeled as a bio. One hop to a shop is a short link. It will not tell you which of five offers worked.
Leaving the bio text as “link in bio.” Name the offer. The tap needs a reason before the page even loads.
FAQ
Can I put more than one link on TikTok?
The profile website field holds one URL. A bio page behind that URL holds as many blocks as you need. Keep 5–7 visible so people still choose.
Where does the YouTube link in bio go?
In the channel’s website or links section, not only in a single video description. Descriptions are for the link that belongs to that video. The channel field is the one that should open the page.
How do I know if TikTok or YouTube sent the click?
Profile analytics record referrer, device, country, and clicks per block. UTM source on the profile (tiktok or youtube) is what the destination site sees after the tap. Use both: referrer for the visit, UTM for the session on your shop.
Do I need a custom domain?
No. linked.is/yourname works on the free plan. A custom domain is worth it when the website field should show your hostname. Pro and Team include one domain.
Is the WhatsApp link generator a separate signup?
No. The WhatsApp Link Generator and the other free tools run in the browser. A hosted bio page with analytics needs a free Linked.is account.
One URL in both profiles
Create the page, pin whatever the current video promised, paste the same link into TikTok and YouTube, and read the clicks before you change the layout. Start free. Add a domain when that URL starts earning the website field.
