You can shorten links without an account. To save links to your account and use Add to Bio, sign in:
- Click the linked.is icon in the toolbar
- Click Sign in
- A linked.is tab opens. If you're already signed in to linked.is in Firefox, it shows that the add-on is ready; otherwise click Sign in (or Create an account) and finish signing in
- The tab closes on its own and the add-on popup opens again, signed in
The add-on uses your linked.is session in Firefox. To sign out or switch accounts, sign out of linked.is in Firefox.
How to Use
Shorten the Current Page
- Navigate to the page you want to shorten
- Click the linked.is icon in your browser toolbar
- The page address is already filled in (on internal pages like
about:the field stays empty, so paste a URL) - (Optional) Enter a custom slug: 3–50 letters, numbers or hyphens
- (Optional, signed in) Edit the title, which is filled in from the page
- Click Shorten URL
- Click the copy icon to copy the short link, or the QR code icon to open a QR code you can download as a PNG
Right-Click Menu
Right-click anywhere on a page, or on a link, and choose Shorten with linked.is. The popup opens with that page or link address filled in.
Keyboard Shortcut
Press Ctrl+Shift+L (Cmd+Shift+L on macOS) to open the popup with the current page filled in. The current shortcut is also shown at the bottom of the popup.
To change it, open the add-on settings and click Change, or go to about:addons, click the gear icon and choose Manage Extension Shortcuts. If another add-on already uses the same keys, you can assign different ones there.
If the popup doesn't open by itself after the right-click menu or the shortcut, click the linked.is icon within a minute and the address will be filled in.
Add to Bio
When signed in, switch to the Add to Bio tab in the popup:
- Select a bio page under Profile (selected automatically if you have only one)
- Check the URL and Label (filled in from the current page)
- Click Add to Bio
The link is added to that bio page. If you don't have a bio page yet, use Open Dashboard to create one.
Settings
Click the gear icon in the popup to change the language, keyboard shortcut and dark mode. In Firefox the settings open on the add-on's page in about:addons. See Settings.
