QR Codes

Create static or dynamic QR codes for links, Wi-Fi, contact cards and more, with your own colors and logo.

linked.is has a QR code generator in the dashboard (QR Code Generator in the sidebar) and a free version at /tools/qr-code-generator that works without an account. Both have the same design options. Only the dashboard version can create dynamic codes.

Create a QR code

  1. Under What should the code open?, pick a type. Filter the types by category, or click Show all 25 types to see every type.
  2. Fill in the required fields. The preview updates as you type.
  3. Adjust the design (see below).
  4. Download the code.

Dynamic QR codes

A static code stores its content directly, so it can't change after printing. A dynamic code points to a short link instead:

  • You can count scans in the short link's stats.
  • You can change the destination later without reprinting the code.

To create one in the dashboard:

  1. Choose a link type: URL / Website, PDF File, Audio File (MP3), Image or YouTube.
  2. Enter the URL and turn on Dynamic QR code.
  3. Click Create dynamic code. linked.is creates a short link and the QR code points to it.
  4. Click Stats & destination to open the short link, where you can see scans and change the destination.

You can also open any short link, then click Customize next to its QR code to design a code for that link. See Short Links.

Design options

  • Code color and Background - Use Swap colors to switch them. You'll see a warning if the contrast is low or the code is lighter than the background, because many scanners can't read those codes.
  • Error correction - Low (7%), Medium (15%), High (25%) or Highest (30%). Higher levels make the code more robust but larger. Medium is recommended; Highest is best for print.
  • Quiet zone - The empty margin around the code.
  • Logo - Add a PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP logo up to 2 MB. It is placed in the center, and error correction is set to Highest while a logo is added.

If there is too much content for one code, shorten it or lower the error correction.
